Fresh & Onlys - Witchy Woman (from the one-sided 7” of the same name, just released on Hell Yes!)
Got this in the mail today. Downright evil sounding track. In sharp contrast to the dull soft-rock they’ve spread around all over the discographies of Woodsist/Captured Tracks as of late. I mean, they’re at their best as a pop band, but they have zero quality control, and a lot of it has been pretty bland. Hopefully the upcoming In The Red LP is where they stashed the good stuff.
I’m find this “quality-control” issue has popped up with lots of bands lately, but I’ve yet to hear anything by the F&O’s I haven’t liked. I haven’t heard their Woodsist and Cap. Tracks releases though. I’m guessing I don’t need to?
first and last tracks on the CT release are good, but the four in between were pretty underwhelming to me. thats pretty much how ive felt about all their releases outside of the castle face lp, which was great all the way through.
woodsist single is just two tracks from bomb wombs.
even if everything was great, you’re setting people up to get burnt out when you release a record every two weeks
